Othello's Odyssey

Here's a question

Did Iago have lots of things build up to force him to incur the downfall of Othello or was he just being malicious and using the obstacles on the way as excuses to rationalise in his mind what he was doing? Do you have any ideas?

I think he was a psychopath. Or the Devil. Otherwise his 'motives' would have been clearer, it would be more 'these are my reasons' and less cryptic.

To be honest, I don't know what you mean. But I do think that Iago succesfully uses all of the PEOPLE in the play - theres not really one person in the entire play that he doesn't abuse and use (oooooh poetry!)

Anyways, after posting this particually pointlss post (alliteration) and givng you all more info about things you already know, I shall leave.

Oh, and I agree with gamze about the devil thing, except I'd say he was more of a subconsious - he basically just says what people are probably thinking at that time.

Enough warbling, I'll be off

I don't think Iago was 'forced' to do anything but I do think he had reasons for what he did. I think he started off with a few reasons to do what he did but as his scheme progressed, so did his reasons and his plans. Or maybe he was the devil like gamze said and he just did it because he could and he knew what would happen from the beginning? Who knows? Do you have any ideas Stacey? Anyone?
